I don’t know what to think about what is going on in America today. I’ve seen movies and documentaries from the 1950s and 60s and watched in horror at the treatment of black people. Vicious dogs. Water hoses. Blacks here, whites there. “Colored only” bathrooms, restaurants, water faucets. Segregation.

In the early 90s a black man was beaten by four white police officers. Beaten. Four white men, one black man. Beaten with batons, struck over and over. Beaten. Racial Tension.

Since then there have been countless black lives lost at the hands of white men. Anger.

In 2020 another black man is killed by a white police officer. Four police officers, one black man. A knee to the neck for nearly nine minutes, suffocating the life out of him. Powder keg ready to blow.

What has happened? Aren’t we all supposed to be living in harmony? Black people, white people living peacefully together. Other races living peacefully with one another. Is this even possible?

It really feels like the 50s and 60s all over again. I watch the news and see neighborhoods burning just like in those horrific movies and documentaries.

Something is wrong in America right now. Confused. Something is very wrong.
